Gently apply a small amount of Temovate to the affected skin area and then rub it until it is absorbed into the skin.
If you are using the Temovate foam, dispense it into the can’s cap, onto a cool surface (you can also apply it directly on the affected area). You should not dispense the drug directly on your hands (unless you are using this drug to treat your hands), because the foam will immediately melt. Rinse your hands with cool water before you apply the drug.
If you have to apply Temovate on a hairy skin area, try to move the hair away from it. In this way, the medication will be absorbed better. Massage the drug until it gets absorbed into the skin.
Employ caution in the case of areas where the skin tends to crease (armpits, elbows and knees). These areas are known to absorb a higher drug amount. You should avoid letting your eyes, mucous membranes and mouth get in contact with the drug.
If you have to protect the affected area, you can cover it with a dressing (make sure that it is breathable). Avoid covering the area with plastic, or any other occlusive dressings, because this makes the skin absorb a bigger drug amount.
You should not apply more than 50 g of Temovate cream, foam, ointment or gel, nor more than 50 mL of Temovate lotion in just 1 week, or for more than 2 weeks in a row without your doctor’s consent. Use Temovate only on suitable body areas. Ask your doctor for more information, as this could have dangerous results.
